I first heard this song maybe five years ago but I have only just discovered that it was written by none-other than Bob Dylan! I'll be honest and say that I'd never really been all that interested in Dylan's music - I don't suppose I ever really gave him a fair chance though (I listened to "the hits" and didn't really listen any further). However, I've noticed recently that I keep stumbling across his work via other artists, and I'm realising just how prolific and influential his writing is!

Anyone else have any Dylan covers they'd like to share?

Dylan’s 30th Anniversary Concert, at MSG, in ‘93’s a great place to get an indication of his significance

Bob Dylan has been as influential on modern music as have The Beatles. He has been awarded both Pulitzer and Nobel prizes. He turned The Beatles on to marijuana.

My wife was watching Ellen a few years ago, and I heard some woman sing Ring Them Bells. Never heard of her, never heard the song, but I could tell it was a Dylan composition. I went out and got the Dylan SACD box set after that. I think it's 13 albums. What find. I listened to them chronologically and made a Best Of disk for my vehicles. I notice that I gravitate more to the music in his later years, post harmonica.

Funny, I prefer Bob’s latter day vocals...raspy, grit & it fits

While I like many of Dylan's own versions of his songs, it's the covers by other artists that are often amazing.....Hendrix, Peter, Paul & Mary, Byrds, etc. I wonder how much he influenced The Band, and vice versa. (they're BIG faves of mine) Many people, especially non-musicians, don't understand his affect on music, even to this day.

dylan was the guy who killed crooning, ie generations of singing

because crooning was no longer believable-- but Dylan, who couldn't sing for ****, was

this was epochal, he opened the door to a stampede

    and now?
