WARNING: This video contains heavy human emotions:
angst, misery, broken heartedness, collapse and cape
draping, etc. Some people say that there is a woman to blame.

    That whole show is awesome.
But, center stage, there is James, showing 'em all how it's done.

Oh yeah, that's the good stuff right there!

I heard Mr. Brown fined his band if he heard you play a bad note. That group was always tight, simply amazing

I saw that at the drive-in. People were beeping their horns till James section was over. It was an odd line up. I like both Jan and Dean and James Brown, but I m not sure thats universal. The sequence where James is cape- shoulder- draped and being lead off stage only to succumb to an attach of soulfulness , throw it off, then start singing again is wonderful , but that was the cause of the beeping.

Great film. The Rolling Stones insisted that they be the last act, after James Brown. It's funny to watch Mick as he tries to imitate JB's flashy footwork. The Beach Boys were good. The performance that was most surprising to me, because all I had ever heard from her was "It's My Party" and "Judy's Turn to Cry", but Leslie Gore was very good, backed by the Wrecking Crew. I'm going to have to watch this again this weekend.

If you haven't heard it, I highly recommend his "Live At the Apollo" album from 1962. That band is scary tight.

I have the DVD, and it's my favorite concert film of all time, yet JB isn't even my favorite act on the show.

    Who is, you might ask?

Leslie was great. Maybe I Know was a great opener.

That whole set is amazing--I cue it up every now and then for a rewatch. James Brown moves like he has ball bearings in his feet, and the band is tight, tight, tight.

In the full video, as he takes his final bows and leaves the stage, you can see a guitar player in the house band--I'm convinced it was Glenn Campbell--applauding and shaking his head. They knew they just witnessed history.

Can you see what broken love can do to a man? It's not a pretty sight. :(

You can get this disc for about $20. It has both the T.A.M.I. and Big T.N.T shows. Each show is on its own 50GB Blu-ray disc, and the quality is excellent.

Yeah, I have that tune in an iTunes "favorites" playlist!

What a great concert film that is!

Another great thing about that film: all live performances and with the Wrecking Crew as the pit band!

I had always heard the exact opposite, actually, that the show promoters insisted the Stones go on last, and the band absolutely DID NOT want to have to follow James Brown. If true, that's smart; I wouldn't want to either.

One of my favorite concert films, if just for the excellent cross-section of popular music of the time it represents, and definitely for being really and truly live.

Right, for artists like Leslie Gore, but a lot of groups (The Barbarians, James Brown's Band, Beach Boys, Gerry & The Pacemakers, etc.) played their own instruments.

Yes, that's what I heard too.
