It's gorgeous! Just consider ditching the f-holes! I have an ES LP without them and it's the finest Les Paul I've played.

Nice to hear from you Rick...... jump in, the waters warm :)

No pipe bending for me, I'll be using my carpet iron again :)

Interesting thought, but if I do that then I'll have to put an access panel on the back. Not that that is a bad thing, just wasn't in the "plan" :)

    Doing some bending .....
Top half was a piece of cake, bottom half is a little more difficult but I'll get there....

You could fish everything through the pickup routes, right?

    That sounds like fun...

Had not thought of that, but you are right. But, I kind of want the f holes to differentiate from the other LP I made.

Slow going here, but moving along.....

You can never have enough clamps :)

Neck, fret board and center support wood....

Starting to take shape..... had a few gluing problem spots but nothing I can't fix/workaround

Next up I will "level" the bottom of the sides so I can work on putting in the center support blocks followed by leveling the top ( and bottom again if it
needs it to get to the final height for the sides. Need to make some kerfing as well.

So, I managed to somehow stain/discolor a part of the sides when i was bending. Short of sanding a ton, any thoughts
on how i can get rid of the discoloration?

That's a really cool looking build. Interesting centre block.

Cool! I say keep the f holes... I love that whomp of air you get through the f holes of a smaller hollowbody when at volume.

Ok, so took the holidays off from doing any build work, but am ready to get back to it.

But, before I do.. a little back story.... the reason for the "hollow" LP is I really need a light guitar for
our practices that last a couple hours and i want an LP style (along with and SG and a tele). The other LP I built is just too heavy for me these days.

Back in early August, I had the misfortune of having a heart attack. One of my arteries was 100% blocked :((the widow maker)
I was lucky enough to make it to the ER and got a catheterization done and a stent placed. Started the build about a month and a half later
to get a light guitar and to just feel normal by doing normal stuff again.

Doing pretty good now. Feel pretty much 100% now, although and know I will be taking meds forever.
Weird part is, I thought I was in pretty good shape before it happened, but you never know I guess.

    Anyway, onward and upward...

I have the top and bottom plates ready to be worked on along with the neck wood (the broken neck is just for reference)

SO glad you're OK and doing well now! Man, that's scary. Had a lesser, but still alarming, introduction to taking medication just recently. My BP normally hovers about 120/65. Went in for a routine doc appointment and it was 170/110! Same thing...consider myself in pretty good shape for 55 and feeling well, hardly ever sick. It's a little hard to "listen to your body" when it's not telling you anything. Got a good blood pressure cuff, and what it told me is it is consistently too high and was placed on medication.

I'll be watching this build develop, it's looking great so far!

Thanks Craig. Glad to hear you caught before it got worse. Wish I had done the same thing.

Struggling a bit making the neck ( per usual the heel/tongue and its angles makes me nuts ) so i decided to think about the fret board inlay treatment. My plan is to use the liquid stuff like I did on the last challenge (was that really 2015??).

I used the Gretsh like half circle things.... this time I plan to do the half circles on the top and bottom of the fret board so I want to end
    up with something like this.....

    FBc.jpg
Last time i did binding with nibs... this time no binding or nibs.... may love it or hate it.... time will tell
