Hello all and a very happy new year to you all!

I come to this forum for all of my guitar related needs - Tele or otherwise because you are all knowledgable and honest. So I have a question unrelated to Telecasters.

I’ve found a used, 1998 Gibson J45 in good condition (left handed). Few scratches but nothing major. $1450 shipping included. Good price?

I have a nice amount saved up right now for me to buy a new guitar. I like the new Les Paul classic, like the Les Paul Jr but feel like I need a new acoustic to play.

    Any input/suggestions would be great.

Just took a look on EBay. J45 Standards in good shape seem to run around $1500. I don't think it's a steal, but it ain't bad either.

    It’s fair.
    If it’s a good one, it’s a steal, IMO.

Sweetwater has a left-handed J45 for $1999, figure a promotion and you are closer in price and you get a warranty. Left-handed narrows the field certainly but there are amazingly nice acoustics in this price range and lower. I would go out and play a bunch. Of course, if it has to be a J45 that's understandable.

Not a bad price for a used modern J-45. You can always offer a bit less and see what happens.

I’d look at it like this: $1450 is a great price for a used J-45 that rumbles & roars when you hammer it, but also sings sweetly when you throttle back, and also just feels ‘right’ in your hands. But $1450 is not a good price for a used J-45 that sounds & feels dull.

J-45s don’t all sound the same. All pretty good, but some are great.
