Do you feel it is important to become proficient on acoustic, and electric guitars?

Not really. Focus, and following your muse is more important than abstract ideas of musical competence.

No. They're different instruments. Learning one is enough. Learning both is great. But if you only learn one then you're doing well.

    Favourite literary character?

Sherlock Holmes - he's always portrayed as the master of sarcasm!

Another vote for Andy Powell and the reason I picked up a guitar in the first place.

Which guitarist did the same for you?

Brian May. I don't play like him. But seeing him at the Sydney entertainment centre changed my life.

    Did you have lessons?

Never had a 'formal' lesson - just the usual sharing of tips between players. I found out within a few hours of owning my first guitar that I could pick up melodies by ear, so Bert Weedon's book went in the bin - far too impatient, me! I have given lessons and that's one of the hardest jobs I've done - just the amount of talking required is exhausting!

Have you ever attended a school reunion?

No, I had been invited to one but to see those people who told me "You're different, that's why we don't like you." after I gotten my butt kicked by them and act like they're long lost friends when seeing them again. NO WAY!

Is there any part of your guitar playing which you excel in?

New pages for my Dragon Ball Z fan comic. I just finished the principal drawing and outlining of the 73h, 74h and 75h pages so I have been busy.

    Go here to read it.

Do you own a guitar with a whammy bar and do you used the thing?

In my own case, I have two strats and the whammy bars are fully functional.

Yes, a 1985 Japanese Squier Strat and the trem works perfectly. It gets used for everything from a subtle shimmer on chords to full Jeff Beck anger.

Steve Vai is one of the best users of a trem imho. What is your favourite Steve Vai album? - mine's 'Fire Garden' for 'All About Eve', 'Dying Day' and 'Hand on Heart' to name a few.

I only have 2 Steve Vai albums; Flexable and Passion and Warfare. I kinda got put off Steve Vai when I read about the thing with the thermometer and his cat's bum that he did on Passion and Warfare, so I'll say Flexable is my favourite. Anyway I liked Joe Satriani better.

What one album sits most uncomfortably in your music collection?

"Seven and the ragged tiger" by Duran Duran, I constantly have to explain to people why I own it.

Ever bought a guitar in Denmark Street London?

I did, It's my Black Beauty. Bought it at Hanks.

Anything by ABBA - the band I regard as 'Tinnitus With a Beat' - but especially 'Dancing Queen'.

Which is your favourite song with the word 'song' in the title?

Seeing as how another one of my questions got overlooked I'll ask it again.

Denmark Street London has possibly the highest concentration of music shops in the world.

Take a stroll with google maps.

Back in the 70's and 80's there was a 2nd hand instrument store in Elizabeth Street, Sydney called Elliott's. There were all sorts of great guitars and amps there that were out of the price range of a young guitarist, but it was a great place to hang out and dream. Elliott's is long gone, but my memories of it remain.

    So the question is:

What was your favourite guitar shop to hang out in when you were young and is it still there?

Peter Gray's in Northampton. Sadly closed about 25 years ago. It was a bit different than the usual music shop; the owner was of more mature years and a gent. Always did a good price and gave actual after-sales service. I miss him.

What's your favourite song with the colour grey in the title?
