Been wanting to upgrade my 48 year old Yamaha 420-12 12 string for a newer one, and finally had the money to order a Yamaha FG 820-12. But AMS and MF were both back ordered until end of Jan.

Looked on eBay and found one, bundled with a deluxe gigbag, clip on tuner, nylon strap, extra set of strings and an A frame style guitar stand.

Same price as the sold out places, and they only have the guitar. Going to buy an SKB case from AMS that's on sale.

Already shipped, be here by Dec 27.

Only second guitar I've bought new (did build one with a new body and neck, but this is different).

    Can't hardly contain myself!!! :)

Well its here 4 days before estimated.

Was almost in tune. Main D was slightly flat.

Only drawbacks I can find are there's no second strap button- I have an extra and screw around here so a couple seconds with a drill and I'll have one on the heel.

Also there's a mismatch on the top near the bottom.

Been running through all my 12 string songs, and some that aren't.

Blues licks and especially double stop bends sound tasty. Bends in general are a little different as the paired strings gauges have difdrent tensions.

Playing Sting's Fortress intro sounds even better with the 2 string chords.

There's an Asian scale I learned (atonal) that sounds even more Asian with the slight dissonance of the 12.

Gasing to install a pickup in it. L R Baggs Anthem system looks promising. Has a mic that suspends 3 mm under the bridge block, controls mount inside soundhole. All adhesive, no cutting or drilling required (other than output jack replacing rear strap button).
