    Learned a new cover I mean.

    I learned When I Write The Book by Nick Lowe this morning.

    I wore that Rockpile record out when I was a teen.

    I doubt it would work with our band but it keeps the mind sharp anyhow...

    'Shut Up and Dance' by some goofy pop band whose name I can't remember.

    That should give you a clue as to how good the song is. :lol:

    I started working through "Yesterday" well... yesterday. I'm about halfway through it.

    My cousin and I play a lo9t of Beatles songs together (he's on bass) and he's out of town for a bit, so I'm going to surprise him with this one when he gets back.

    it's neat that this thread appeared now because i'm actually trying to learn a song all the way through with all parts: band on the run.

    I've been playing over 45 years and I can't think of a single song I can play al the way through. but I play guitar All The Time. it's a mental disorder.

    but, by golly, this time...

    I challenged myself to learn a song in an hour. After mulling over my favorite Tom Petty songs I chose Even the Losers.

    It took a half hour.

    Tom plays it in D so I just capoed up two frets and used all the C chords.

    Sounds good for solo acoustic.

    Gary Clark Jr's 'Things Are Changin.'

    It's only two chords but my hands don't like the reach with those hammer-ons. It's a very rhythmic song, and that tapping is also harder than it looks. For me anyway.

    This song has been my main attention point the last couple weeks. I've got a lot of it down but I can't say I've "learned it". I have the intro & chords down and a bunch of the riffs but I don't improvise it all that coherently and I could probably practice this the rest of my life considering where the bar has been set by Mr. Burrell and SRV.

    The other two that have been getting a lot of attention lately are:

    - Wild Horses by the Stones
    - Small Town by John Mellencamp

    Mostly just playing chords on those, I have them down fine but again have only been playing a couple years, I need to keep working on making all the changes smooth, etc..

    Vulfpeck Dean Town. This was a tough one. I had to record it into my DAW so I could slow it down and learn it a section at a time, then put it all together. Also, it's kind
    of a strange, syncopated line, not intuitive, so it took some time to get it into my head so I could play it all the way through. Took me
    probably at least eight hours of work to get this one down. It was actually a few weeks ago that I learned it but I'm still proud of myself. Waiting for my bass player
    to learn the part as well so our band can do it. I will double the bass part on guitar...
