I think the PRS Vela Type D pickup would be great on a Tele (Video)

I have four telecasters so I'm not trolling here. But I recently bought a PRS Vela and the neck single-coil has a sound that I think would work great on a Tele. I wonder if anyone's done it. Here's a clip of the neck pickup on mine in action:

    Sounds great!
Could you share your amp/pedals/chain to get your tones?

Sure... It's pretty simple and fairly cheap mainstream stuff. Although there are other pedals on my board, the only pedals I'm using here are a line6 'Crunchtone' (a very underrated pedal that sells for peanuts on e-bay) on 'Blues' setting: distortion turned to it's minimum, the bass at 3 O'clock and the treble at 9 O'clock and a Boss DD20 delay. Clean channel on the DV Mark GH250 with a bit of reverb. Celestion Vintage 30 speaker.

The Vela is great all around. The neck pickup is like a great strat or tele neck. It would look cool, too, but I'm not sure if PRS offers it for sale separately.

Thanks, you really get a great tone!!!
A Vela is one of the few PRS I haven't tried. My NF3 sounds pretty good, too, but getting that tone you have there is always eluding my rigs!

A Vela has been on my list for a while. A lot to like about that guitar! Thanks for cranking up the GAS level.

Well, the guitar sound is to die for. Very good playing, too. I have built an old Firebird pickup in a Tele´s neck position. Hard to compare two pickups in different guitars with different gear behind, but it might sound similar.
