Found an old photo of my band mate Jessica and myself playing CBGBS. I miss that place. It was a rat hole of a club, but it had charm. We still keep rocking. Just put out our album. Anyone else have fond memories of a classic venue?

Never went to CBGBs, but always saw their t-shirts!

I came close to going when Blondie/Deborah Harry played there one night, before she was well known. Ironically, a few months later, by coincidence, I saw her at a dump in Rockaway, NJ. I know CBGBs had a TON of guys who made it big.

I used to go to Crazy Country Club (Warm Beer, Lousy Food), and saw Billy Joel at OBI West before he "was" Billy Joel. I was underage and my cousin snuck me in.

If you have kids, my GF is probably their art teacher.

I had the opportunity to go to CBGBs a few times when I was in NYC in 1979(?). It was a grotty, nasty, stinky little dump of a place - absolutely perfect for rock-n-roll! I liked it. I also went to Max's KC, because it has a reputation that had reached the West Coast. Didn't see any famous people, but I met a couple of nice girls there!

My best memories are of all the burned-down clubs in Mad-town. + Headliners (where I worked), the Black Bear Lounge, and the old Genna's. Maybe Bunky's.

All gone now, except Genna's, which is in a completely different form.

JB's, Dudley - as well as some truly awful local stuff ;) (guilty your honour too) .... you'd regularly get 'name' acts there trying out sets/material before heading off on National/Europe/American tour.

I remember NYC clubs from years ago. Limelight, The knitting factory, Tramps, and some others but I forget their names....

There are so many venues I never got to go to either due to my age or where I lived. Max's Kansas City, CBGB's, Hotel Diplomat, Coventry, The Daisy (Amityville). All places that were gone except for CB's when I could actually go. Then there's the part where I was in San Francisco, lol.

That said I do miss The Stone in SF, and for a time The Omni in Oakland was a great club.

Hiya, another JB's old boy here.

Dunno if you still keep up with any of the old mob.

Sam Jukes who owned the place is still around, I was speaking to him last year at Jim Hickman's memorial at the Robin. He was looking well considering all the s***e he's been through with trying to keep the Club afloat and his health.

As you probably know, the old place hosted some names just before they broke big - Dire Straits and U2 to name a couple.

    Happy days :)

I miss a fantastic venue called Annie 44. We were in the '80's then, that place was the nearest from a real Brittish or American underground dance club we could find here at that time. Unfortunately, I went there only twice. On the third the building has been demolished...

I remember driving down from Boston to play there in the 90s. It always seemed like a big deal at the time. A lot of the great live music clubs from those years are gone.

Now cities want trendy neighborhoods and kids want to stay in with their cell phones and game boxes.
