This must be old, Tim Russert been gone awhile and I see him sitting there.
Is Dave got a bad tupe or what?
That song was just dumb, the musicians did ok given the tune, but that was a lot of work for very little.
I’m sure Dave wouldn’t pass up a camera no matter what they ask him to do.

Bandtrack was nailed across the board.

DLR should have stayed home. Never even liked that VH song.

I love VH. That is not my favorite album and I’ve never liked that song. The country musicians finally let me hear EVH’s vision for the song, I think. Cool.

DLR is a great rock lead singer. I don’t care what anyone says.

But his style of rock vocals doesn’t fit that arrangement, for me.

Edit- the rendition of the solo was awesome, particularly the banjo.

It was the acoustic guitars with cutaways that ruined it...

Jakedog, that was bluegrass, not C&W...

A long time ago I would listen to Howard Stern on WYSP from Philly. One day Howard was just not there anymore, and he was replaced by the DLR show. I don't think it lasted for more than a month, It really wasn't very good. But DLR had just released the album that Jump was on, and he was pushing it. It was all VH songs done up bluegrass style.
I'm pretty sure I heard the whole thing. Great backing band, but I didn't care for it.

Scott Vestal on banjo. That's one of his "Stealth" banjos he's playing. I've played one...very cool.

Yah, I could have really enjoyed this w/o DLR singing. Good BG instrumental ruined.

Good lord people, the only thing weak/sad/depressing about this clip is DLR himself. This is a room full of monster musicians absolutely nailing it! I don't care if you like Bluegrass or not, they can shred... and they are only idling on this song.

I'm surprised nobody has actually brought this up... this is the John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band! John Jorgenson was a key member of the Desert Rose Band, he is 1/3 of the Hellecasters, he is a master of Django Reinhardt / Gypsy Jazz and oh yeah... he toured for 5 years+ with Elton John. In this clip he is on the mandolin.

IMO the music is a master class...

I kinda liked the music until that clown showed up with the microphone, 7 seconds into his delivery I punched out. Are you sure this is real? Are you sure he's real? You did notice it was Jay Leno didn't you? Wait a minute, you're in on it with him!:lol::lol::lol:

No but sitting around in campgrounds at 3 o'clock in the morning playing music with people you don't even know is strangely addicting.

I want to thank you for posting that, it's the singularly worst rendition of Bob Wells in Still the king in existence, the beat's wrong, the delivery is wrong, the smell of it being wrong comes through the speakers. How on earth did you find that? Were you drinking ripple? :D

The comradery of bluegrass is something everyone should experience. Everything is done for the love of the music and the money is just necessary evil. At festivals the main stage show or workshop is the paycheck for 45 - 90 minutes of pickin'.... then they go to the backstage and pick with friends for 4 hours for free, then meet up again at the hotel and pick all night :D
