    I am pretty sure those are termites guys, they look like them. I was once in a home that had pictures on the wall. The pictures had holes on them and the frame was much like that guitar. The termites came through the wall and into the pictures and frames. I have seen termite tubes hanging form the ceiling.

    Start with the heavy cut compound. Swirl remover won't take care of it.

    I'd call that style of distress "pileated".

    Heat it to 145 degrees for 3 hours . Everything will be dead . Everything . No need to chisel it to death . I guess it made a fun video .
