I can not find a good neck pickup for my Tele. I had the Twisted Tele but thought it was thin and lacked the body and fat of a good strat neck pickup. Now I have the Duncan Vintage Stack and I hate it, it is weak!!! I have the Duncan Little 59 in the bridge, and both pots are CTS 500K.

Any suggestions on new neck pickup along with pots, etc?

Although it will require a mod to the pick guard, why not try a neck strat pu in the tele's neck position? It may give you the sound for which you are searching!

what are you looking for tone wise from your tele neck pick up? that will go a long way towards offering suggestions. Narrow the playing field, as it were.

I'm running a Texas Special in the neck of one of my Teles, with a Lil '59 in the bridge. 250K pots, and they match up pretty well.

Get a pickup made to suit! josephkayeguitars have made several great sets for me. Also, Bare Knuckle worth trying too.

I had a lil 59 in a vintage tele and found it overpowered the neck single-coil p/u so changed it to a Dimarzio PAF. Balanced well after that but I wasn't thrilled with the lil 59. Liked the PAF though.

Had the original 250K pots .47 cap - the neck was bright enough, the lil 59 was good for certain things...guess it depends what you play.

The Lindy Fralin Blues Special is by far the best sounding tele neck pickup I've found, thus far. The LFBS bridge pickup is amazing, too.

that's what I was thinking too. For example, I think a strat neck Texas Special is an amazing pickup, but the TS neck for tele isn't even close.

The Dimarzio Twang king neck is pretty decent, kind of 'fluty' or woody, like the strat TX SPL.

I've got another tele with Rio Grand Muy Grandes...nothing wrong there either, for me.

Or try the Rumpelstiltskin Blues Pup (tall-boy style) with no cover. Like the Fralin...stratlike and more balls.
    I love mine.

+1 for Twang King neck, the perfect balance between a good Tele neck and strat pup ! but keep in mind it's a vintage sounding pickup volume wise.

Twang King is strat like, had one, good pup. Rumpelstiltskin is a better match. More balls.

The Suhr is really a fine sounding neck pickup. Not often mentioned here, but highly recommended IMHO.

The neck pickups I have used in Teles have been weak, weak, weak, so I want hotter, and fatter, more balls. The single coils in my strat are fat and ballsy. I may just order up some new Rio Grande pickups. I love the bridge Lil 59, but I am interested in trying a Rio Grande in the bridge that is hot.

The Fender Custom Shop Nocaster neck pickup that's in my brother's partscaster sounds delicious to me (as does the Nocaster bridge pickup!).

I'm using the Tele Blues Special pickup in the neck position of my Bigsby Strat and it's the best sounding neck pickup I own.

I replaced my Twisted Tele with a DiMarzio True Velvet and couldn't be happier.

Talk to Mick Brierley at - tell him what you're looking for and he'll try to wind it to fit you. And if you're not happy he'll work with you to make it right.

I have the Brett Kingman signature set and really like the neck pickup. Sounds full and deep. The bridge pickup is amazing as well. I can't say enough good things about his work.

+1 there. The custom shop Nocaster pickups are often overshadowed around here in favor of boutique pickups. My Nocaster came with a humbucker in the neck (limited edition, blah blah) The bridge pickup was really nice. I went to a single coil in the neck and was going to just get a NoCaster neck pickup, but went with a maker to try something different. May end up with the Nocaster in the neck anyway. lol

But if you search around you'll actually find a lot of love for the NoCaster pickups.
