I've always thought it looked really cool, and at times, ridiculous, when players would sling their guitar/bass low. Post your pics of low slingers here.

    I'll start with these:

Yeah, I think I thought it was cooler when I was younger. Now-a-days, I'd rather have the guitar high enough where I can play it efficiently. Low slinging makes it super hard to play, IMO.

It all depends on what you're playing but I agree with you for the most part. If the guitar is too high, my arms will be too bent and that's uncomfortable. If the guitar is too low, my wrists will get strained if I'm doing anything too complicated. For just bangin out chords and stuff slingin it low is fine for me.

In high school I went as low as I could, and my playing suffered.

I've found this is a comfortable height for me now:

I'd note that Keef at least puts the neck up where he can finger it without issue.

I used to try to emulate this as a teenager without much success.

LOL, in the early days for me 78-80ish, in one basement band over a while, we where all slinging our LPs so low as to be crazy. Made me laugh to think about it. It was during a Jimmy Page period, or should I say explanation point?:oops::twisted:

LOL, I quit when my wrist started to hurt...

I still have the long leather strap I had made for the task when I was 18ish... I mean that I had made it, myself...

Looking at the Page shot reminded me my knee was starting to hurt too. From banging a 12lb LP Custom on it way too much...

Izzy Straddlin and Robert Trujillo keep it below the belt.

Anybody remember Bob Mould from Husker Du back in the 80s? He wore his Flying V with the bridge around his kneecaps.

I think Robert Trujillo may play lower than anyone I've seen.
