I did a bunch of work to this little piece to make the sloped sides match. Didn't take any pics of that.

    Fits beautifully tho

And more importantly the whole mess makes a strong joint even without glue. The joint will support the weight of the guitar with no glue yet.

I still need to make the spacer between the fret board and body but that's easy

Laminated would be an advantage. Stronger, thinner and less likely to crack. Many makers have been doing it for decades.

Tackling it quite nicely, James! By the way, what happened to the hand?

Thanks Rog. 20+ years of playing guitar has caught up with me. Carpal Tunnel surgery in both hands. Had the right one done 3 weeks ago and the left one done last Friday.

So it wasn’t as a result of getting jumped by 12 bikers and getting all Royce Gracie on them??????0

And working on getting the base coat on this one the right color. Not happy with that so I see some sanding in my future.

Love this wood tho, look at this amazing grain

Color coat of lacquer is dry enough to scrape the binding.

I'll probably wet sand this color coat perfectly smooth then hit it with clear.

The clear coats are going on the orange one very nicely, should be able to go straight to buffer without wet sanding and still get a perfect finish.

This guitar is going to be really cool. It gets one of the Hickory necks which should go really well with the orange. :)

And I'm pretty happy with my butterscotch mix on this one. Might need a bit of wet sanding tho, that grain is pretty tough to get level.

This is a Les Paul sized hollow body ..it should be a cheap Asian pile of junk but this one came out just fine with no issues or problems at all.plays and sounds perfect ,warm and jazzy .I use live at jazz nights .Its a genuine hollowbody with floating bridge a fraction deeper than a Les Paul .I found it on Gumtree but havnt seen any similar . keiper.jpg

That is awesome. Is it built like a 335? Are the sides bent or is it hogged out, if they are bent they did an awesome job on the horn it looks perfect. If you are up for it I would love all the detailed pics you can take of it. Is the top 3-ply press construction or carved?

    I love that guitar.

I really want to take that guitar apart :D.
