    Hola! Ola! Hello!

    I am Javier the newer.
After some years without playing guitar I have got a Squier Telecaster Classic Vibe a very good price! Actually, it is a great guitar for the price! I love it!

I would also like your recommendation regarding upgrading the tones plate. I am thinking of 920D to get more powerful and clean sound. What do you think?

    I am also uploading a photo! 15469962919881731318794.jpg

    Hola! Bienvenida!

That’s a nice platform for upgrades. I’ve never owned one, but word has it the pickups are pretty good. I think the electronics are a great place to start. Just make sure the neck is squared away. Frets level, ends filed, etc. I’m not familiar with 920D. I upgraded my MIM with a total wiring and pots kit I bought from Emerson along with an Oak Grigsby switch, CTS pots, and treble bleed circuit and I’m quite pleased with it.

Here’s a mod you have to make:

Install a 4-way switch, giving you the pups in series.

It’s like having a Les Paul, kind of.

(Y para su información, soy viejo, no nuevo.)

Thanks guys!!! I do appreciate your comments and good vibres!

Actually, I am lefty. The first time I begun to play was difficult to me to get the rythm so my father saw that and ran to Talcahuano street in Buenos Aires and got a Japanese Fender Stratocaster used but in very good conditions. I used to play on that strat until got married and then I moved to Mexico city for work.

I will try to get this mod Ira7. Do you know a kit to recommend?

    Mucho Gusto, Amigo!

I am a fellow lefty. You will find that there are many of us here. I have also found that the "normal" right handers are both interested and helpful regarding our "special" situation. But, I'm sure you can see that already, given the suggestions you're receiving in this thread. Buenos Suerte!

You just gotta get a 4-way switch, not a kit. You keep the same capacitor (I’m pretty sure), but you may want to start a new thread in Tele Technical about it:

I’m not sure if the Squire CV has a shallower control cavity, wherein you would have to get a shallower switch.

Dirt cheap, and an easy mod to do.

Hola Strato, welcome aboard! I recommend keeping that nice-looking Tele stock for a while. Get to know it before you make too many changes. The 920D stuff looks nice, it will probably sound cleaner than the stock pickups, but not necessarily more powerful. The 4-way switch is a nice upgrade, the "humbucker" position gives you a more beefy sound, without losing the original sounds.

Hey Javier, welcome! Are you argentinian?

There isn't much to improve on this guitar apart from the pots and maybe a selector switch. The pickups are already good quality. I suggest replacing the pots with full-size CTS or similar ones, and maybe installing an original Fender switch.

"Suerte" (luck) in spanish is a feminine word, therefore the adjective should also be in the feminine form: buena suerte.

There is no need to change anything on most telecasters. That is the beauty of the design. Fender deserves credit for making a great guitar for the money.

    Welcome!

I agree with the above advice: play it for a while as-is before making changes.

If you upgrade it slowly, your wallet will never feel a thing!
