Was in a bar last week, they had a CD playing I thought sounded killer. But, no idea who it was! Maybe someone here can help identify.

Was a hard but southern sounding rock band fronted by a female. Kinda Led Zeppelin-esque, hard and rocking. But had a southern rock vibe/groove. Any ideas?

No. I love graces older stuff.

This band was "harder." Not metal, but definitely amped up and rocking. Would be at home playing the big hard rock shows like Rock on the Range, Carolina Rebellion, etc.

Think, equal parts Jet+Wolfmother+BlackBerry Smoke fronted by Lzzy Hale from Halestorm.

I was thinking that. The music matches the O.P. description and that singer sounds like a girl.

After listening to a bunch of tunes on Youtube, I'm 90% sure it was Greta Van Fleet! I'd like to believe I can ascertain the difference between a front man and a front woman, but I was in a bar drinking, so...

I couldn't Shazam, it was in backcountry SE Indiana and I had no cell svc. I tried. I asked the barmaid and 2 dudes sitting at the bar if they knew who it was, they didn't but one of them said they were supposed to be "the new Zeppelin." That fits.

    Regardless, THEY ROCK!!!

    Yup, he sounds like Plant.

Drummer seems to be a student of Bonham too.

The guy's good, needs some swag (that'll come over time as he continues to grow).
