I'm not a total Guild expert but I am a fan, and my gut feeling is that is an acoustic neck on an electric body. The narrow headstock can be found most often on the acoustics, and I'm not aware of an electric model with a G inlay headstock that isn't bound and doesn't have block inlays.

In the photo close up of the heel, I see a line that looks like the current neck is narrower than what might have been there originally.

I agree this was someone's project that didn't go well. The neck seems to be from a '70s or '80s Guild acoustic, who knows what the body is. At least the auction description is honest.

I don't remember ever seeing gold foil pickups on a Guild either.

Ahaa... great responses guys, I've been googling images trying to get a match, but nothing has. (Even setting the neck aside, I haven't been able to identify the body!)

Agreed on this possibly being a project guitar. The mustache pickups, the master volume, or whatever the knob is, on the lower bout and the 3 knob tone/vol pickup controls...all of which don't seem to be common to any Guild I can find. Look like Harmony components.

That tailpiece is snazzy though. If someone was looking for one of those, it might be worth the price of the auction.

The serial number would place it as a 97-99 D4 or D25. Whoever placed the neck on the body did a horrible job. The tailpiece is not any guild type I have ever seen and the body looks like a gretsch 6120 knock off rather than a guild type body.

Looks like some kind of a Guild neck on a Gretsch body, like a Gretsch Country Club. That top looks like cheap flatsawn hardware store pine.
