I recently picked up a guitar that sports a bit of a racing heritage, and I want to find the right strap to match.

    IMG_1133.JPG IMG_1134.JPG

The images are a bit dark, but it's a nice and deep sapphire blue. My immediate thought is a vinyl or leather guitar strap with its own racing stripe. I've found a few examples that I like in various complementary colors without being to gaudy. The first is probably my favorite thus far, matching the tone of the guitar pretty well, but maybe too well.

They also have a vintage blue color that might be a nice contrast.

Then a slightly different style from a maker outside the US.

I like both of these, but would have to make sure I could get one shipped to the US. Levy's has a racing line as well, but they're really frigging shiny and I don't think I like them that much.

Any other ideas or directions to go?

Maybe a nice comfortable white Italia strap, then have your favorite shoe-repair shop sew on a color-coordinated racing-related patch you got off the internet.

    .

Couch straps, made from car seatbelts (I think new old stock), or it might be Soulder.

Seatbelt strap with a patch or two would be my vote.

That or those imported ones because those pick slots are way too cool.

Didn't even process that until you noted it. That's a really cool little plus for those.

I'm kind of leaning toward the vintage vinyl colored Couch Strap currently, but not pulling the trigger for a while, so keep em coming!

I dig those straps for sure, but to me they scream more Kustom Tuck and Roll amp than vintage car.

I do like those racing stripe straps you've got up at the top; they seem to go well visually with the instrument.

Consider Reunion Blues straps. Wool & leather. Very comfortable, nice looking. The pinstriped ones are elegant. Here's one in blue:

This! Best straps ever! Plus they are vegan friendly. No animals killed for straps.

I seem to buy darker than the guitar (and leather with rough side down). Not sure what I'd do with a very dark colored guitar...

I would go for Couch. According to the pictures (that could be misleading) the vintage blue should work better.

Oooh, me likey! There are some really cool designs in there.

Most of my current straps are in the $20-40 range, but every now and then I splurge a bit on the right guitar and for the right strap.

Yeah, I don't want to get one that matches exactly, but in this case darker would likely have to be black. They have a black/white, but it doesn't really grab me.

They also have a white/black, but I don't know about a white guitar strap. Makes me feel like I would be wearing Herb Tarlek's belt and shoes.

Yeah the vintage blue is becoming my favorite of those straps. Here are a few more shots of that one.

Don't mix vertical stripes with horizontal stripes. That creates visual dissonance. Let the guitar be the focus and get a strap in a complementary colour.

Classic black is always a good choice:

Interesting perspective. Kind of like wearing stripes with plaid. o_O:D

The cool thing about the stripes on the guitar is that they curve upward toward the strap at the back, so it would almost be like creating a full circle with the stripes.
