I saw this the other day While walking down Broadway in downtown Nashville. It was $10 to try. I feel like I could do easily do it.

We watched about 4 or 5 people try - all male, about 25 years old. It they all seemed to be a bit intoxicated too. The longest I saw was 58 seconds.

The only thing that kept me from trying it is that I’m resting my left shoulder right now - I strained it slightly last week doing pull-ups. But as soon it feels good again, I’m going to test myself in the gym.

I use a different grip than most people. I wrap my thumb over the top, which forces the wrist to rotate slightly... which is more comfortable to me. And also takes some stress off of the fingers.

the diameter of the gripping bar looks large , that most def is a huge factor, for me anyways

a smaller diameter is way easier to grip imo

When my rotator cuff was injured, PiggyStu here suggested I try a "brachial hang" as a therapeutic treatment. Basically same thing as this.....hang with all your body weight on your arms. Surprisingly effective, and actually improved (though not cured) my shoulder. Fifteen to twenty SECONDS was about all I could handle.
I wonder if this place ever has to pay out the money? ;)

i think grip strength is key here...i watched some bodybuilders vs rock climbers...the rock climbers had better grip strength in the test

This is where it pays to have skipped leg day at the gym since forever.

There was a similar challenge like that at the Portland Sportsman Show a few months ago. It's harder to do than you would think.

This is an old hustle. I used to see this on the midway at the county fairs with all the other scams. Looks like it's back. I never saw anybody beat it.

Ok, but keep in mind that the bar you use at the gym may be different from what they have at the carnival...just like the basketball hoop scam. The bar rotates freely (i.e. no torque), so your trick grip that you think is going to beat it might not work.

I heard an interesting discussion on the radio, about how confidence is no guarantee of success. You could make some money - or not!
