No one forced you to view this thread or post in it.

I never asked permission from anyone.

And if you would rather discuss something as pointless and beat to death as "tonewood" by all means start a thread and have a party of 1.

This topic is making me think about the times that I've seen an elderly person barking at 17 year old cashier at MacDonalds because the ice cream cones have gotten smaller....as if the 17 year old working the cash register made the cone decision at the corporate headquarters.

I have great respect for my elders but there are times when my elders should behave with grace simply because they've lived longer and they should have social comprehension and manners.

Mean people suck. I'm 53 and my youngest is 16. I try very hard to lead by example.

    I don't know how ya'll do it.

I had a pretty tight rein on who got an appointment with me, at the office, and I was surprised how often I basically had to escort them out of the building. In 1979, when you stood up, the would be customer knew the interview was over. Some of these people did everything but handcuff themselves to the arm of the office chair.

I think my chairs were too posh. :^)

No, seriously, if the comportment of the typical new wanna be client was the same as it had been in the time when I started, I'd probably still be working full time.

I'd say, the right customer is always right. The wrong customer is not my customer, in the first place. There's so many people I'd be pleased to serve - the hard part is gatekeeping to keep the bums out.

She has a valid point there. ;):)

You young punks do not respect the math of her generation. ;):)

    (I.e., 45+26=71 not 61)

Well at least she did visit that restaurant in AZ where the owner's tell the client to get the F#$% out of their restaurant... It could have been worse.

Some people just want something for free... and you did not give it to her. So she threw a fit and insulted you. Yep even aged citizens can act like spoiled brats sometimes.

And if she is a bowler, and hates the rental shoes, then tell her to buy her own!

Glad you gave her the boot, Bandit. When some folks get older, they realize that this is all life gave them. They can get grumpy.

Now, all that said, do you really manage a business in a tank top? Believe me, I only tuck my shirt in for funerals anymore, but there are some positions that require at least sleeves.

When I first read ZZ Top hat I saw ZZ "tophat".

Now, I always give respect to someone in a tophat!

This has all the makings of a reality cage fighting match. In this corner Bristling Bad Bowling guy in the opposing corner Mad Dog Alley Momma.

Well 3B give us your insight into how your took down your opponent so quickly. Well, I trained hard, ate plenty of three musketeers, (to make me extra tough) and I slipped a pair of our extra slippery bowling shoes in her ditty bag right before the fight!

I feel your pain but you did good. I tossed a guy out of the stereo shop I was managing about 30 years ago for the same type of stupidity.

Dude came in complaining that we had installed a stereo in his car incorrectly (big list of complaints) and that he had an appointment on our busiest day at the busiest time. Our shop was the largest car stereo installation shop in Western Canada and we had a room full of people who were waiting for their cars to be completed.

I looked at our appointment system, he wasn't booked. He couldn't produce a receipt, I checked his name and phone number and couldn't find any record that he was even a customer of ours, ever. Still, giving him the benefit of the doubt, I said he could go home, find the receipt, proof of purchase and we would get him in asap to fix him up.

    Not good enough....

He demanded that we just fix his car immediately or he would tell all of his friends never to visit our store. I very calmly looked at him, channelling my best Clint Eastwood said: "I'll bet you don't even have any friends".

I said it before I even realized what was going on.

It was awesome. He left and never returned. Some of the customers who saw the whole thing go down gave me the thumbs up and the atta-boy look and the counter guy who usually took in customers was quite relieved. Never saw that guy again. Obviously a scammer.

Her generation? 61 isn't old enough to have attended Woodstock. Hell, 61 was going to Studio 54. 61 missed Viet Nam. 61 didn't march for civil rights. 61 was too old to fight in the 1st Gulf War. 61 had affordable college. 61 gets to mooch off my Social Security payments, so the trust fund will run out 2 years before I qualify for it.
