Slash.....His whole rock look was cool and his playing in GnR was iconic. But I just don't feel him anymore. Even watching the current tour just looses the old vibe

A lot of John Mayer. Some of Brad Paisley. Ed Sheeran too.

    Prince for sure.

Keith Urban comes to mind. Many more I am sure but that's what popped into my head.

John 5. I think he is talented, I'm just not into the really heavy stuff.

This is going to be heresy, but I prefer SRV's playing on Bowie's "Let's Dance" than most of his other stuff. Economic, great tone, restrained - every note in those solos meant something compared to the blizzard of notes in his solo stuff. Same thing for the record he did with Jimmie - I prefer him when he's editing himself a bit.

Jeff Baxter is a perfectly good guitarist, but I can't stand Steely Dan or The Michael McDonald Doobies.

McDonald is great but there's just a little too much ''woof" in his voice sometimes...sounds a bit contrived maybe?

Slash, I love his playing but I'm not a fan of guns and roses or his solo stuff. Awesome guy though :)

    Pat Metheny among others.

He's an outstanding guitarist and would want just an inkling of his talents, but I couldnt really bring myself to love his music

Always thought Elliot Easton is a vastly underrated player. Those leads on the Cars albums were great; beautifully phrased and always appropriate to the song. I do like the Cars though, at least the first three albums or so.

Man he could belt it out.

well, the thread title says it all.

I do understand that it is beautiful, but it's just Im not a fan and couldnt bring myself to love it. I didnt say his music is ugly too.

YEs! I find myself weird with my musical tastes, or i may have no taste at all.

Steve Vai for me...amazing player and seems a nice guy too, deserves all the respect that he gets, but if he came on the radio playing, I'd change stations!!

Slash wishes he had an iota of the talent MB had imo, but hey we're all different.

We saw Carlos at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and left after about 20-25 minutes to go see Joe Louis Walker instead. There's no fiery intensity apparent to me in current Santana shows and his music sort of demands that there be IMO. So I listen to his records instead.

Other people are way better live than on record. Amazed how much fun seeing Robben Ford was in person in a small club - the records don't prepare you for the level of expression or the satisfaction you derive.

But the person I expected to like in person and on records (and find bleah) is Tommy Emmanuel. And yet he sounds like a fun guy I'd be happy to spend time around.
