Holy cow! You're weren't kidding! Thanks for this!! He's amazing:
Nick Harper ... son of Roy, utterly mesmerising.
Not to hijack, but I'm in Madera. Born and raised in the "'no", though!
His craziest sounds were always on his solo recordings...
Which vid? Love Bill...
Lenny was the ultimate monster guitarist. The best.
So many, lots of whom have been named already in this thread. But I'll second Jimmy Bryant - playing so fast and yet with such accuracy shouldn't be possible. But I haven't seen one of my personal favorites named yet: Dickie Betts; especially on those early Allman Brothers records. He had a really cool hybrid style on those records. Part rock, part blues, but with a sizable portion of country and jazz in the mix. Put that mixture into his hands and run it through that killer Les Paul > cranked Marshall setup of his and you have a chills-inducing sound. It almost sounds like anyone could do it - but just try it: you might get the notes, but you won't get the feel.
rory gallagher. between the playing, the use and abuse of the instrument and the fact that he's the lead vocalist as well?
he's the alpha and omega as far as i'm concerned.
