Just saw this on a financial site:

    https://www.finance101.com/bankruptcy/16/

Looks like GC is set to finally go out of business this time (despite being rumored to be going under for about the past 15-20 years!!11!!).

I think I'm one of the few that actually likes to stop into GC now and again. However, I liked MARS a lot better back in the day!

Did you read the article? It doesn’t say they are going out of business.

I think Guitar Center and Eddie Bauer would be the only ones in this "at risk" list I would even notice were gone if they went belly up...not sure if that says more about me and my demographic (whatever that is) or these brands. :)

I miss Sears too. I am still bummed about "Montgomery Wards" and Woolworth, however
I heard Monkey Wards is back alive on the internetz

I remember you could go into Sears and get a (guitar, tires, fishing pole and fridge)

ps..It looks like that link is from an October estimate.

Yeah, I miss Lechmere which was part of Montgomery Ward IIRC. I think those stores made money but they also owned Woolworths, oddly enough, and they brought them down.

    I liked Woolworths as well!

What was it in that article that led you to your conclusion?

    Woolworth survives as Foot Locker.

Not just Guitar Center! Lots of other stores I've never gone into (at least for years) are going out of business too!

Some fragile board members, no one so far on this thread, might find this misleading and report it, and then TGT will have to make some decisions. But we know he's always fair.

I saw somewhere guitar sales are not down it's just people are building way more partscasters these days, they don't buy brand names as much anymore. after building my tele i doubt ill ever buy a big brand name guitar again either.
