Hello, i have a telecaster with a 4 way switch (4th position is the series) that gives me a electric noise in certain positions; those are the symptoms:

    - bridge position: the hiss is present when NOT touching the strings or metal parts. touching the neck pickup makes it louder
-parallel and bridge positions: the noise is present ONLY when touching the neck pickup
-series position: exact same as the bridge position

    What could be the cause?

I saw the the thread title and thought that it's a good thing this isn't a skydiving forum.

the 4 way requires you to remove the jumper on the Neck pup that connects the chrome cover with the black lead.... connect a third wire, usually yellow, directly to the cover.... that connects to a ground point.. like a pot case..
