Once upon a time not so long ago in the land of TDPRI, in a comment in one those "what do you dislike?" threads, I said "I can't imagine the inclusion of any kind of green in any guitar finish being attractive."

It looks like I'll be eating my words.

Over the past few months, my wife has been watching a couple guitar finishing projects of mine unfold. As an artist, she has a keen interest in the visual aspect of any of my projects. A few weeks ago she started raving about a particular green guitar she had seen in a so-hip-it-has-guitars-hanging-on-the-wall clothing shop, saying to me "I wish you had a guitar that color." I kept telling her "I really don't like green guitars." On day we were in the neighborhood (the mall, really) so we went by and I saw that it was a surf green Epiphone Wildkat.

In the meantime, a swamp ash Tele body that I've been refinishing with black grain fill and a light brown stain isn't looking as nice as I had envisioned and my wife doesn't like it at all. Every time she sees it, she brings up that green. So I then I found myself looking at pics of surf green Telecasters and kinda liking them, and then today I found myself at the Reranch website ordering a spray can of surf green...

The first guitar I ever held in my hands was a 'greenburst' Univox bass. It set off a long chain of events that carries on to this day...

The 'Caddilac green' CS tele with bound body is one of the more attractive modern offerings I've seen.

My first guitar when I was a kid... a Univox "Coily" 335 copy in transparent green burst.

I was given a part finished kit guitar to finish off last year.. the kid had already stained the body and glued in the neck, then forgot about it.. his mum asked me to finish it as a surprise for him...

it was a good exercise..especially getting the pots/wiring done....

    pretty green, huh?..... ;)

I like aged/greened blues, also aged Sherwood green. Less keen on bold greens.

My favorite color is green, and I recently purchased a green oceanburst Les Paul ... I KNOW it's not a Tele, but it IS real purty ...

On some guitars the darker greens like a Sherwood Green look sharp and on others I've seen Fenders Surf Green and Gretsch's Aspen Green also look nice. For me it's somewhat guitar specific.

There was a guitar Dennis Fano did in the same shade of green as XTC's English Settlement album cover that made me weak in the knees.

I still think that some day I'll own a green guitar. Always liked seafoam, never pulled the trigger. I saw a green Country Gentleman that was pretty cool too.

"Green can be cool and friendly like."

Two Tone Gretsch, Surf Green or Sherwood Green are OK in my book.

Let's your words be simple and polite for you may have to eat them or spray them on a guitar.
