Terrible shock. Opinions aside, there was tremendous talent behind all the Eagles' music and Glenn is a great loss to the music world.

I love this vid. A lot of people like to bag on The Eagles, and I think it's because they've forgotten what an incredible collection of talent the original four were. I like loads of their stuff, but those first three records are pure genius.

I also really dig that Glenn looks very much like a young Sam Elliot here. Kind of awesome.

What a shocker ! Always loved the early Eagles stuff and saw them live a couple of times.
    Got to wonder who's next.

Yes, and does anyone know what was the latest recordings
    from Glenn?

Sometimes time passes by so quickly and decades can go by
and we think, hope our favorite artists are still banging out
beautiful music. But that's not always the case.

I grew up on The Eagles and Bowie at the same time!

Worked on the Hell Freezes Over Concert. One of my
close friends built that stage of the dilapidated hotel too.

Here's a story: When we were finished building the stage,
we came over with the gear that was in a rehearsal studio
the next city over. Frey drove himself over to the WB lot
I think it was, and he stomped the stage and didn't like what he heard.
It was too hollow sounding for him. So he told Chris and Tim Lamb,
    "Fill it."

Then we spent the rest of the afternoon getting rolls
of fiberglass from Home Depot and filling the bottom of the stage.
When the concert was over, the fiberglass was returned for a refund.

    That's my Glenn Frey story.

That's the same day Joe Walsh told me I was full of prunes.
But that's a story for another time.

Myself, I never met the man or talked to him. I'm sure many who knew him would have a reason to belittle him or be insulted by his reported arrogance and cold heartedness.

I'm sure I'm not the only old timer here who owes him and a whole mess of other artists (thank you CSNY, Buffalo Springfield, Country Gazette, Poco, New Riders, Crazy Horse, Linda and the Stone Ponies, Burrito Brothers, Byrds, and many more) a debt of gratitude for giving us alternatives to the Disco and Metal that was being pushed on us at the time.

Thanks for the music, Glenn! RIP....

Saw Frey and Joe Walsh play at the Mud Island Amphitheater down on the Mississippi River here in Memphis years ago sometime before the Eagles got back together.
Glenn had a lot of hit songs of his own , and of course wrote or co wrote some of the biggest hits for the Eagles.
I enjoyed the show, and I've always been a big fan of the Eagles (and Joe Walsh) music.
I don't get caught up in the drama, there's plenty of that around, like us, musicians are all imperfect humans, I just enjoy the music and the memories.

“Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia"

Music and soundtrack of my youth......

    Tough to see.

    RIP Glenn you'll be missed.

Being born in 1980, I missed out The Eagles the first time around, but I really got into them in the summer of 1995, and my first love and I used to spend lots of nights listening to Hell Freezes Over, TGH Vol. 2, and the Hotel California album. Glenn was a big part of my teenage RnR soundtrack. Glad I got to see The Eagles on the Hell Freezes Over tour, and a couple of more times in the last few years. Going to miss him for sure. Godspeed....there sure is a heartache tonight.
