This list has a different focus compared to other seemingly similar list threads out there. GAS-ing for guitars and/or gear often means a longing for items beyond (often well beyond) our means. For example, in my case, this would be something like a Martin HD-28 or a Breedlove Voice series Auditorium, and on up. And then some GAS lists are pipedream lists for the almost certainly unattainable items. I'm talking about items that are scarce and/or dearly priced; an all original in excellent condition '53 Tele, for example. In this GAS list, I'm talking about items that are either within or just out of reach, but for whatever reasons right now you just can't quite pull the trigger on them. Reasons of research/indecision, for example. I have a Hohner DR-550 acoustic. All solid wood, great projection, great sustain. I want to make it an acoustic/electric, but I just haven't decided yet on which system to use/install. I'm GAS-ing for another Logan Custom Tele. Bob Logan's prices for custom builds are quite reasonable, so I don't consider this an item that's well beyond my budget. What I'm currently GAS-ing for will probably run me under a grand. Still, that's more than I can just plunk down at the moment, so I'm working towards it. I was hoping to do this within the first quarter of 2013, but setbacks...well, you know... Later this year, I guess. I've been really curious about the Epiphone Nighthawk Custom Reissue, a Gibby/Epi product with some Fender-like properties (25.5" scale, for example). My other GAS items are higher on the priority list, and so the Nighthawk will have to wait. But this $400 guitar won't break the bank. But then for some budgets, $400 might just break the bank. Either because of limited means or a limited discretionary spending budget, some have to relegate $400+ items to a GAS list. So, what do you have that fits this type of GAS list? What guitars or basses or pickups or amps or whatever are you working toward that are more or less within reach?
