    WTF!

Since I've lived in the Black Hills region (twenty-five years), there have been two Moose spotted here, probably wandered in from Montana, both were killed within a week or two of being spotted. One, by an unknown poacher, and the other by the Rapid City Police when the animal, a cow, drifted into the city outskirts and made the apparently fatal error of finding itself in the vicinity of an elementary school, where of course, it posted a 'threat to the children' and had to be shot rather than darted and relocated. The cops shot and killed the Moose within sight and earshot of the school kids, who were, of course, traumatized by the whole thing.

    It's all just so stupid.

The official and the hunters should go to prison for several years.

how is it the 'only one seen in 250 years' but only classified as 'vulnerable'.

Sounds like Andy was out fishin' with Opie and Barney was in charge for a minute.

Maybe it left a turd on the footpath putting the Mayors tidy town award at risk?

Seen more in neighboring Poland, not in Germany.

Sort of like we just started seeing Bald Eagles here a few years ago, while other areas in the northeast are lousy with them.

Brandenburg's Environment Minister Jörg Vogelsänger has stated that although they may be Europes largest land mammal, the bison are not known to be dangerous. If they were then half of Poland would have to be declared a danger zone and the bison is both a national symbol and an animal that roams freely.

    No kidding! Stupid bison...

On the flipside, buffalo burgers taste pretty darn good (if a tad dry)

Yeah, I read the posted link.

Pity the unnamed official didn't get the memo.

Yes, sort of like that. It didn't magically evade death for 250 years in Germany and then come to town to pave the way to introduce his family when he was tragically murder

has anyone bothered to check the truth of this story? I myself have never heard of 'disclose.tv', so I can't say with any certainty that it is a trustworthy source. I notice that they provide no links of any sort to reputable news agencies which might confirm the veracity of this article. It is posted by an American who does not seem to have any ties to Europe or Germany, other than the few articles he has chosen to re-post.

This may very well be true "fake news". With no confirmation, and no other sources, it is hard to give any credence to this source.

I think we would all be better off if we didn't just re-post anything and everything that outraged us when we saw it on the internet. And if we wanted to re-post something, maybe we could take the time to research it and provide some credible collaborative evidence.

unfortunately, in today's age... it may not help all readers to see that the NY Times ran the story too.

My other question is why is it so important that it was a 'wild' bison? Would it have been more cruel to shoot a tame or domesticated bison?

We are addicted to outrage ESPECIALLY if it is far away... it is so nice to hear of the barbarians afar!

About 100 miles from me, a 22 year old police officer was murdered while working what seemed to be a minor traffic accident. The shooter was found a few hours later dead of a self inflicted gunshot wound. Upon hearing this, a co worker of mine commented in near monotone, 'well, at least he killed himself.'

We live in an interesting time among interesting people.

They should move those Deer Crossing signs to roads that have less traffic, so the deer will cross where they're less likely to get hit by cars
