So I started a thread here looking for ideas

    http://www.tdpri.com/threads/has-anyone-built-their-own-multi-guitar-stand.752817/

And I got some good suggestions on how to move forward. So if anyone finds this thread in years to come, there are some good examples in the link above. And now here's the finished thing. I got the bottom rails upholstered with 1" foam and a nice fabric. It's actually fabric used for church pew cushions, so it'll last a lifetime! Special thanks to @guitarbuilder , @RogerC , @Vizcaster for for their input and help on this.

Looks great! I noticed you have a couple of empty slots. Is that allowed?

Looks awesome, well done. 9 out if 10, you seem to be missing a tele;):D...

Yeah, it probably shouldn't be allowed. I don't have all my guitars at my house right now to fill it up. I'm kind of on in a thinning phase and I was planning a 6-guitar stand and thought to myself, if I make this stand, and put 6 guitars on it, then maybe I can just say whatever guitars don't fit on the stand I don't need. Of course then I got to measuring and planning out how many guitars would fit. I left 2 slots on the end wider in the event that I ever own an acoustic (perhaps someday). So I measured it out and next thing I knew I had 9 guitars, and it's only 51" wide. So looks like 9 is a good number to thin down to.

I wondered if I'd get called out for that around here. Which is why I was sure to include a good picture of the tele side of the stand! I'll get my tele over soon and get a picture for you.

I think that's what I need instead of having them hanging around here on the wall!! Very nice work!!!

Yeah, nice sunburst on the Teles!

Also, you can set the guitars aside, kneel on the church cloth and pray!

Yeah, I've done the wall hanging thing for a lot of years, but it isn't a good idea at the house I'm living in now. And I actually like this a lot better!

It is essentially just two kneelers re-purposed for guitars but without the structural support to hold my body weight in one spot:lol:

Nice. I probably need to build something like that, instead of tripping over all the individual stands.

Very nice, is it walnut with a maple spacer?
I'm going to build me one, one of these days...

Yep. I wanted to build a rosewood tele like George Harrison's, but I knew I'd mess it up. Also Rosewood is tough to track down  but so I made it similar with walnut, a maple center, maple neck and rosewood fretboard. Then gold hardware.
