Anyone know of the first year production for a lake placid blue.."esquire"...i believe this may have been a custom color on fender's color chart??
Were the ones done with LPB. just customs with bound bodies or did they do them in a regular unbound body??

    thanx's in advance!!!

This is according to Curtis Novak's website and I'd say it pretty much agrees with what I recall. GM used that color on top end models like Caddy's in the late '50s and Fender began using shortly thereafter.

I don't believe it was a custom color either or at least not for long if it was and I've not seen a double bound from that era in LPB. My first experience with it was a '66 Jazz Bass I owned.

    Dupont Number: Lucite 2876-L
    Years Fender Used it: 60-73

The story goes that if it was available in the DuPont catalogue, they would shoot it. If you said you had an original 1959 Esquire in LPB, Custom (bound) or otherwise, with a Maple Neck, I'd think you'd have something pretty unique. Although there is nothing I know of that would make it impossible. If it was a 1962, I'd still be very impressed, but not as knocked out. Marty Stuart Has a Custom Telecaster in Lake Placid Blue on his "Hit Pack" album cover, looks like a 1965, sure looks a good combination, assuming it is original and with Marty that is usually the case.
