eric the clown...what kind of name is eric for a clown
"Oh yes, they Float Georgie. They Float, and when your down here with me, You'll float too." ~ Bob Gray
Weird...was just discussing this with students yesterday. One googled and came up with the term "Coulrophobia."
So prevalent that there's actually a name for it! Also funny was the quote from wikipedia: "...As adults we make assumptions about what works for children. We found that clowns are universally disliked by children. Some found them quite frightening and unknowable."

Don't get a comic or comedic writer who went to college started talking about this stuff. Trust me on that one.
I never attained a fear, but it apparently is not uncommon. I like the comedy of it in media though, Bones series has a component of this phobia in, and all the modern culture cartoons seem to get to it.
If you bite a clown, does he/she taste funny?
Something to be said for the person who adorns the costume and make-up in terms of their own 'mask' metaphor... Maybe something there to actually fear in the person playing the part... Just saying...
Same thing goes for ventriloquist dolls.
Especially after Anthony Hopkins put the nail in that coffin with 'Magic' in 1978. I love that guy! LOL
I don't find clowns scary, just the people who dress up like one.
Never bothered me, but having seen clips from League of Gentlemen recently I can understand how one could develop a phobia.
Clowns aren't funny.
You laugh at the clown rather than with the clown.
They do not imbue sympathy, therefore there is nothing to like.
Phobia - no. Like - no.
don't forget Kinko.. the kid loving clown
dont fear them
just hate them
My daughter is terrified of them, she`s a 23 year old teacher
How can she help the kids if a clown scares them
Pretty freaky lookin' after all. My wife hates 'em but I've never gotten a clear explanation why. Good enough for me...
My youngest daughter (7 years) was with the older siblings when they watched IT. They said they tried to shoo her off, but she wouldn't leave. That was 20 years ago, and to this day, she hates clowns! She gets goose-bumps, chills run up her spine, and wants to throw up at the sight of them. I told her she needs to grow up, but it still hasn't worked for her...
I don't like clowns, never have....yet I find myself more frightened of actual people who chose to be clowns.....just sayin'.....
Dead clown on a bicycle
I hate balloons today because a Clown Scared me when I was young.
No I don't understand it either..............
An exception to the rule, Red Skelton. Miss him RIP. The rest, not so much.
