    Hey everyone,

I'm looking to get into slide guitar. Could anyone reading this thread state their favourite slide guitar album and the tunings used on the album?

    Thanks in advance.

The Allman Brothers Band - Live at the Filmore East.

Duane Allman uses mostly open E tuning

Second Winter by Johnny Winter. Not all slide, but what there is smokes! The record that started me playing, more than 40 years ago. I remember Highway 61 just blew me away, I'd never heard anything remotely like that before. Try Ry Cooder, Little Feat, Sonny Landreth.....

Oh I think Johnny Winter used open A if memory serves?

Chris Whitley and Jeff Lang- dislocation blues
Kelly Joe Phelps - Shine eyed Mr zen
    Bonnie Raitt -Fundamental
Little Feat - Dixie Chicken & Feats don't fail me now.
Ry Cooder & Vm bhatt - a meeting by the river. (This is not for everyone, transcendental slide mastery)

    No idea about the tunings.

For some melodic wonder: Lindley, Lowell George, Ry Cooder, George Harrison, Bonnie Raitt, Sonny Landreth...

So you want to learn to play slide ?

    Start with open tunings , like G or D , E or A

Go on You tube , watch and listen .

There are countless examples in a variety of keys , there are many many tutorials.

Save the best of them in your favourites , so you can watch them , again , watch listen learn .

    Here's a sample ...........

These two fellas , Jim Suhler and Jason Elmore are playing in open G.......
