The aim of this thread is to post pics of famous (or not so famous) Tele players, and maybe a brief bio. Here's Larry Knetchel playing the Tele (with Bread I think).

Larry was a naturally gifted Californian musician who started off playing bass with Duane Eddy. He played keyboards for many recordings, forming part of a group of session musicians known informally as the wrecking crew.

Albert Collins was an American electric blues guitarist and singer whose recording career began in the 1960s in Houston and whose fame eventually took him to stages across North America, Europe, Japan and Australia...wikipedia:D

Okay, you said famous as well as not so famous, and Keith Urban has already been mentioned, so...

...I give you Brad Paisley, with his '68 Pink Paisley Tele "Ol' Pink" I think he calls it...

I've posted this one elsewhere on TDPRI, but it fits here...

Of course, the story of Harrison's Rosewood is famous, but though he gave it as a gift, he would go on to have other Teles in his arsenal...

    Syd Barrett

Syd Barrett (1946-2006) was a founding member of Pink Floyd whose Esquire lend its distinct sound to Floyd's psychedelic landmark A Piper at the Gates of Dawn and later solo albums. Barrett's Esquire was famously refinished in silver with reflective metal discs attached to the body. He later traded the guitar for a plain black Esquire, before retiring from music in the 70s after a mental breakdown.

Some of my favorite guitarists in jazz happen to primarily play the tele. Underrated canadian Ed Bickert is one:

Master of voice leading Ted Greene is another:

Jim Campilongo, really knows how to handle a tele. He has his own amazing signature model:

Adam Rogers, plays with Chris Potter Underground and does an amazing job there:

And of course, my personal favorite, Bill Frisell:

Though more usually associated these days with his Gibson 355, this guy still uses a Tele from time-to-time (although I don't believe he's using one in his current band, the High Flying Birds....). Needs no introduction...

I'm sure you will appreciate that this topic (obviously...;)) comes up regularly. There are new players that pop up occasionally, but you may want to save a bit of band width by looking back at one of the previous incarnations.

Here's a REALLY old one to get you going!... [thread=9632]Click for thread[/thread]

Hey, that's no problem - I don't speak Swedish either!...;)

    Well, in order, they are:

    - Sheryl Crow
    - Tom Petty
    - Andy Summers

Just a load of non-entity, journeymen wannabe musicians who have yet to get their big break on the music scene. But watch this space - I'm gonna stick my neck out and predict that ONE day these "hopefuls" are going to be famous, and even folks in Sweden will get to hear of them!....;)
