They look amazing guys!
Hmmm...would it count if I make one?
Now that would be impressive!
My 43 year old 335!
Tony Bacon's new Gibson 335 book is coming out October 4, 2016. Ask you local library to order a copy. Many libraries have a 'suggest a purchase' feature on their websites.
The Gibson 335 Guitar Book: Electric Semi-Solid Thinlines and Players Who Made Them Famous
Release date: October 4, 2016
Author: Tony Bacon
Publisher: Backbeat Books
How do Bacon's books compare to some other Fender/Gibson instrument/company historians? I prefer books that capture the spirit of the golden period for the company, and the instruments. I don't usually care for the regurgitated encyclopedic type of book.
Sometimes all you have is covers to judge books by, and Bacon's strike me as possibly more to the encyclopedic type. I'd love to be wrong, but so far haven't been willing to risk a purchase.
Some of my favorites in this genre, both titles and authors:
Fender: The Golden Age; Kelly
Fender - Sound Heard 'Round the World; Smith
Fender - The Inside Story; White
The Soul of Tone; Wheeler
The Stratocaster Chronicles; Wheeler
The Fender Telecaster - Life and Times; Hunter, et al.
The Nacho book stands alone. Perhaps best categorized as encyclopedic, but goes waaay beyond that. I love it.
Though I'm also jonsing for a tele, a 335 will be my next guitar purchase. I figure in the next 6 months;just gotta find the "right" one. One of the things that inspired me about the 335 was the research I did for this story I wrote about a Gibson 335 It's about Abraham Zapruder's trip to Kalamazoo after the Kennedy assassination and how a Gibson 335 changed his life.
Got my 335 copy today and I love it! I think I have a thread dedicated to it somewhere, I'll post pictures and/or video there.
You guys that subscribe to this thread probably have Charlie's website (ES-335.org) bookmarked. Here is his post about the visit he had with this author. . . http://www.es-335.org/2016/02/17/bein-with-bacon/
Well, based on that, I'll pick up a copy when it comes out.
Can us Epiphone Dot owners use the clubhouse once a month?
black mij Epiphone.
Red mid 60s gibson
I hope this counts.
Does my Stagg high quality copy,
hot rodded 335 count????
Does 335 copies count. A very fine Commodore N25.
A guitar that is just as good then Gibson 335, Yamaha SA 2000 copier, I don't own this one.
It's a great club! Some day...
Just bought This 2016 ES-335 Memphis for £3000 after doing overtime. Fender Telecaster cost under £500 also goes to my collection. My Commodore N25 is a rough copy of Larry Carlton from 1969 & Steve Howe "ES-335 Red-Yellow sunburst," and copy of Epiphone EA-225 but these are in red.
I love clubs!
Just because I want to post a picture....fyi....always....always....talk to the salesmen on these big purchases. Saved a ton. Unbelievable quality, I suspect that now that the Memphis boys have taken over..... they are making a statement to the Nashville group. Its a pretty loud statement and if anyone from the Memphis plant reads this.....golf clap!
