I posted here about a week ago because recently I've been feeling it's time to upgrade my main guitar and use my current Tele as a backup, as much as I may still love it dearly. Tried to buy a Taylor Solidbody Custom from a local retailer, which didn't end up working out - long story there. Looked at a lot of Teles but didn't find one right for me anywhere.

So I went down to the legendary Steve's in Toronto for maybe the thousandth time in life, saw this on a wall, and started playing it for the next hour or so. I have it on hold for a week or so, but I kind of totally fell in love with it and I'm going back down to try it tomorrow...

Opinions? I know almost nothing about this guitar other than how great it feels and how awesome the tremolo is. And nothing at all about the brand. So let me know what you guys think about this guitar and about the brand in general.

    Thanks

I've played two or three and I think they're quality instruments for sure.

    I think from Germany.

    Can be heavy.

I played one that had a lever that could change the volume or tone, depending. Was a bit easier to do vol swells or wah effects than just using the pots. Not sure how much I'd use it in practice, but it does show they are thinking outside the box a bit and trying new ideas, rather than just following the herd.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

they have endorsement contracts with Ron Wood (Stones) and Mike Campbell (T Petty). I have never played one, but I have seen them on display. They make some very fine-looking instruments, and they have some pretty good ideas.

They also make some interesting bender devices, and a pretty cool lap-steel .

I've been checkin these out locally as well, seem like a great company. The guitars look great in person and play pretty well, though the hollow body tone can take some getting used to, if its not you usual tone.

A good friend of mine has a Duesey that looks to be the same model, just not the croc skin finish. It's a beautiful sounding and playing guitar. The neck P90 sounds great--jazzy and clean for rhythm, smoky with OD. The bridge bucker is sweet as well, a nice sounding PAF that is balanced to the neck.

The middle position is an out of phase neck/bridge that sounds very straty and clean, not sure if that one is wired up the same. Overall, the guitar is a great player and has killer tone, I just don't always get on with the over the top aesthetics, but to each their own.

It's a small german company, founded by Dieter (Atze) Gölsdorf, who was one of the german guitarparts pioneers in the seventies and eighties. They even offered a guitar-building vacation on a mediterranean island . . :D

Never touched one of their guitars, though they have a good reputation.

Is that an adjustable stop on the Bigsby type vibrato?

I played one at my local shop and have to say for a LP-style guitar it has the best feeling neck I've ever tried. The out of the box setup was excellent too.

I suggest that you do a Youtube search for the video where they demonstrate their string bender. It is a very finely-built piece inspired by the Bigsby palm pedal; you won't believe what that guy can do with it.

Nice stuff, though the trem on the guitar pictured is a traditional Bigsby. Would be fun to have that multi-bender, though.

I've heard great things about their Vibratos. It's very similar to the Bigsby design but their retaining bar is drilled for string-thru instead of the troublesome Bigsby posts.

Haha, exactly. They are heavily ornamented yet they fail to look anything original. Wouldn't want one by their looks for sure. But to each his own of course.

Our lead guitarist plays a Deusenberg Outlaw. It's an amazing guitar. After he had it for about a month and had it dialed in to our music it became the only guitar he brings to gigs. The tonal variety is amazing.

I shopped the Duesenbergs a while back and my thought was: This sounds like a Gretsch. You might want to consider one.

I was gonna mention that, you beat me to it. He told me Saturday night that his other guitars just hand on the wall, and the Duesenberg is the only one he plays anymore.
