Some of us know that Jimmy Page is releasing his 'Dragon' to us. I believe this is the white Tele that Jeff Beck gave him when he was in the Yardbirds, because Clapton, Beck & Page, all disliked the red Tele that was the managements. 20190208_065509.jpg

It'll make a nice office decoration or an addition to someone's collection, but I would prefer striving for my own identity.

The original white "blonde" with rosewood before the bling is just classic it can't be improved in my mind outstanding personal ergonic or tonal enhancements.

Maybe he was one of the many right brained British lads of his day, who were good in music; that went to an art school. Thus his music and art skills were combined ??????

They’re selling the production mirror tele without the mirrors attached so you can get your wish.

Though it’s a grand more than the production dragon for some reason.

There is a white Tele in the Rock Hall in Cleveland - it says it belonged to Beck and was used in the Yardbirds. It also has an arm relief sanded in it. It is still white.

Unless there were two white Teles, and one of them became the Dragon? I don't remember the origin story, and I don't feel like googling it. :D

It would make for a cool playable display. I considered doing a partscaster copy myself years ago for that reason. Probably still would if I wanted one today. The $1300 buck version would be a cool guitar to own if you were a big fan or just wanted a collection of famous guitars to hang on the wall.

If anyone gets the latest Rolling Stone magazine's collector issue, featuring Led Zeppelin (groc store checkout lines) they have a pic (page 24) of Page playing the Dragon at their very first gig, 1969 Denmark, as the 'New Yardbirds' before the name change. It shows Robert Plant singing.

Love Zep's music but that guitar isn't something I'd buy, even if I had the money to do so.

I don’t remember the exact details or the full story, but there was some charity auction or something, and someone was putting up what they claimed to be that guitar. Beck was there, realised and told Eric laptop (flippin’ auto correct, that’s the second time I tried) not to bother, and also the Hard Rock guy. But the Hard Rock Guy said he didn’t care and bid and won it anyway.

Something like that was the story. Whether that’s the truth, well, who knows?

Edit: Okay, so I should have googled it first. My bad. Third last question, way down at the bottom.

I know, right? As I said in the previous threads on this, the last thing I need is for people to see me holding Jimmy Page’s guitar and expecting to hear me make it sound just like Jimmy...

It's also a not particularly beautiful painting. Doubtless the original is a fantastic Tele.
I can't imagine the guitarist that wants one of the copies.

I thought I read (somewhere back in ancient times) that Seymour Duncan ended up owning Beck's Tele with the sanded forearm body. Maybe someone here can weigh in with better info than my foggy memories?

You are exactly right nojazz. Saw it recently, at least on the innermess: no dragon or cheezy mirrors.

    OK....it was Jeff Beck's ESQUIRE......not a Telecaster. (WHEW!....my memory's not TOTALLY gone;))
Go to this link, look at subjects on the left, click on Jeff Beck 1954 Esquire.
