Pass. The offset Tele concept is much more appealing to me.
Step away from the tele..... NOW!
Not for me
I like them.
Not my thing. Strats have vibrato arms, Teles have upper bouts
God, guitar players are the most ultra-conservative people on the face of the planet. Honestly, guys in 1957 were much much more open to change - to me this is not at all dissimilar to the transformation of the Gibson les Paul junior to a double cut away. Both types of junior are totally awesome... and found their own unique symbolic niche.
It's not as if Fender will stop making the standard tele shape either - we just have more choice.
The way people react to this guitar, it’s as if they thought Fender was going to come to their house and smash all their 52 Reissues.
Well, I wasn't looking to stir the love/hate pot. I was just curious how folks had reacted when they actually put their hands on them and how others (bandmates, audience, other guitar players) have responded when they saw them.
For the record, I have one and am quite happy with it. It's definitely widened some eyes and started an interesting conversation or two.
Looks like a start' problem's child...
A strat's problems child...
I second that.
I appreciate problem children. They shake up the status quo and that often leads us in new and interesting directions.
After more than 300 replies ... it won't die!
Kind of mini solid 335 shape.
Hmmm, red, wood grain showing....yeah
Somebody revived this one yesterday - back from the dead.
As I've posted earlier - it didn't bother me then; they only made 500 of them as a limited run deal last summer so if you didn't like, it was soon going to be gone (or at least put on clearance pricing until it was gone). I never found one locally; but since I like oddball guitars I'm sure I would have checked it out, but only would have bought one if it really grabbed me as a great guitar regardless of looks.
Well, sorry to have brought it up. Was just curious, after all the furor upon its announcement over just the pictures, what folks' reactions were once they actually put their hands on one. Mea culpa.
On to other things.
The Offset Tele looks cool to me. The double cutaway Tele... a monstrosity.
Never cared for the look of a double cut tele. Agree with others saying it shouldn't even be called a tele.
