Does speaker wire gauge matter when wiring a cabinet?

    That's what I would do, and I have a high performance car running on tyres costing over £1200 per set.

    I wouldn't recommend poor quality cable, mains twin flex "lamp cord" is high quality cable, generally better and tougher than any "speaker cable". What on earth do you think they are putting inside expensive speaker cable.
    The normal lamp cord is 10 amp with excellent insulation, that means it can swing a chandelier if it has to, carry 2.5kW and never burn the house down.
    They make miles and miles and miles of "lamp cord", so of course it is cheaper.
