    Hi,

I was wondering if Fender still makes the American made Highway One Telecaster? I was just on the Fender website and see the Hwy 1 Strat but no Tele...anyone know whats what?

    Thanks!

They stopped making it in 2010. It was replaced with the American Special, which is basically the same guitar but not available with a rosewood board.

Thank you for the information and clearing that up for me CA Dan. I see Music Zoo has a black Hwy 1 for $729, I reallly like it, not sure if Im gonna pull the trigger just yet but thats a good price compared to $850 for the special.

    :)

Other differences in Hwy 1 vs American Special:
Finish is nitro on Hwy, poly on Special
Pups are Hot Tele Alnico 3 on Hwy, Texas Specials on Special
Saddles are steel on Hwy, brass on Special

I believe they stopped making it this year. I have one with a 2011 serial number.
