I figure , if you don't wanna hear swearing, what are you doing in a bar? Course I used to feel that way about tobacco smoke, too.

The person I'm talking about is in no danger of losing gigs. Well-known vocalist, a local celebrity around here for about 20 years, incredible range and stage presence. Any band he's in sounds absolutely killer. Absolutely f***ing killer.

I figure, if you want to hear trash talk, don’t come to my gig.

You asked if we cuss onstage...what this clown does is his business. Daddy got to eat...I will save the cursing for football.

Also bear in mind I am not passing judgement here either way, I'm just curious. I know James Hetfield used to cuss every other word in concert - today he seems a lot less prone to it.

I don't know. I've heard some old ladies who would put Dave Mustaine to shame...

Everything gets boring if you do it too much.

    Gotta know your audience.

For the most part I try to talk 0 and play 100.

If I say anything I try to make it "thanks to all the other bands and thanks to _________ for hosting the show, I'm Tide Eyes from Greensboro, NC."

Well, I don't write it into a LOT of my songs, and never set out specifically to do so. But I do go where the muse takes me. I have a two or three out of a hundred that I definitely won't do if kids are in the room.

I also won't change them. I recently had some internet DJ ask me to record a different version of one so he could play it on his show. Said he wouldn't play anything with profanity. I told him to pick another song, then.

They don't give me a mic, but I'm swearing profusely in my head every time the singer comes in early.

Love Mr. Clemens, but he misses the boat now and then.

My wife is literally the smartest human I've ever known personally. Multiple degrees, an incredible career, and membership in some seriously heavy duty leadership and brainiac organizations.

When occasion calls for it, her use of profanity is not only copious, it's a thing of rare beauty and imagination. That woman is to cuss words what Miles Davis was to Jazz.

Same here. I try to keep the music flowing. I definitely wont swear if there are children. If my audience is older folk, i try to keep it respectful, but if i am playing a punk show or something, there is usually some language that is used.

Sitting at my feet is the two volume version of the OED, I have no idea how many entries it contains but it's well into the hundreds of thousands. With all those words to choose from, I rarely feel the need to be obviously profane...
