I thought we already had one... it's called "The Stomp Box".
Does my GFS Brownie allow me admittance?
Sure, come on in!
'85 Whiteface Reissue Rat
I guess I should represent: Circa 1992 Rat 2. This is the pedal I've used more than any other by a long shot. Used it at most gigs I've played on guitar over the last 20 years.
Got the Keeley mod a few years ago but I wind up playing the 'standard' Rat sound most of the time anyway.
I guess I can join.
I bought one when I heard Jeff Beck used it. When it came, I plugged it in, played about 5 minutes, got a headache then put it away.
You still got it?
I might take it off your hands and sell my modified one if you want to get rid of it. Is it one of the "flat face" ones or one with a slanty top?
Slanty, I believe.
Hm. I'll pass, then. Still, you should give it another shot. The key with Rats is to turn the filter up above 2:00.
I'm in. I have a 86 BF I bought new, been on every gig I've played. We share the same birthday, lol.
I recently bought a Black Secret so I can retire her to living room duty.
I'm in with a Rat 2. It's my favorite dirt pedal. Works well with my DRRI and AC15C1.
team Mooer Black Secret checking in....
I have an'87 RAT that took in trade on a guitar sale. I originally planned to flip it on EBay and get my cash out, but damn it, I can't let go of this thing! It sounds amazing.
Been waiting for this one. I had one in the mid '80s but wound up getting rid of my gear. I finally broke down & got a Rat2 last week. Right after I got it I started to notice alot of Rat talk on this forum. I had forgotten how delciously nasty this thing is. I had one empty space on my board to fill, I'm glad I filled it with this thing.
Another 86 Blackface here.
No need to retire em though, they're the clint eastwood of guitar pedals
'86 Rat -- probably the pedal I have owned for the longest time.
yeah.. does seem to be the year for them, the 86 blackfaces look to be the same internally as a WFRAT, 88 Blackfaces seem to be using the PCB that would go in the RAT2 and blackfaces don't go for anywhere near the money that WFRATS do
Are 'fake Rats' allowed? If so mucho love for my GFS Brownie Classic- a distortion factory for sure:
Gearmanndude's demo, which hooked me:
