Not sure how long it's been here, but I just noticed this warning on Sweetwater.com. It appears on the page of every version of the ProCo Rat:

"WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including Diisononyl Phthalate and Antimony Oxide which are known to the State of California to cause cancer. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov."

What's the deal with that? Is this out of an abundance of caution? Where in the pedal do these chemicals reside? I've not seen this warning related to any other pedal, let alone any other product.

plasticizing and opacifer compounds for the finish - basically you should be okay as long as you don't try to ingest the pedal. or smoke it. :D

I paid my way through college (70s) partly by adding antimony dust to liquified rock to grow Silicon crystals for micro chips ... in California.

    The irony.

    But fantastic pay.

Heck, even simple H2O is dangerous, lookup "water poisoning".

Dihydrogen monoxide is the hidden danger in soda. There are also bars that try to put it in mixed drinks, so I make sure to tell them I want my whiskey straight, please.

These days a lot of faucets come with a sticker that proclaims that they contain trace amounts of lead which is known to cause lead poisoning in California.

What about the other 49 states?

Much more satisfying. I love reactive targets. A tin (with antimony) can beats paper any day.

I covered my Rats in a protective layer of plastic straws... Refer to them as “he & she” to keep them in line...

    This is why I use a DS-1. It's 100% organic.
