I want to wire my Tele in a non standard way. I want it to be standard 3 way with the 4th position being a tone bypass, basically the 3rd position of a Esquire. I don't want to use a additional switch or a no load tone pot. I would like to keep it all in this one 4 way switch. Is it even possible with a standard 4 way switch?

Probably not difficult. But it'll only work in one pickup position (I assume the bridge?). With a 2 pole 4 way should work.

Yes, the bridge is what I want to bypass the tone.

    I mispoke... (it's late)

With a 2 pole 4 way switch I don't believe it's possible. I'm trying to find out if a 4 pole 4 way exists. I need it for a different application, but your example is yet another reason why it's needed.

If you find one let us know - been looking for a while to drop the round off the bottom of the vol pot in pos 4

I was playing with wiring diagrams last night for my own needs. I had a moment of inspiration. I am now back to my original thought that this can easily be accomplished with a 4 way 2 pole. I'll update once I get home.

You mean you want position 4 to be brighter?

And louder - I currently do it on a minature toggle on the control plate between the pots but want to be able to do it on a single switch throw rather than two controls - pull switches on pots arent available to me as Im a leftie and wire controls with LH CTS pots

Probably 4 gang 5 pos strat switch is the solution but it would be nice to contain it in 4

So.... same as the OP, you just want to lift the tone control in position 4? Or do you want a "blow" switch where it's just bridge pickup straight to the output jack?

along those lines but its actually the series position ie std pos 4 rather than the bridge (I actually lift the vol pot so its wide open as well but that's me) just the bridge would be easy

Ok... you lost me. I don't play Teles so I'm unfamiliar with how they're wired when a 4 way is used.
