I made these opinion poll at the top.
Once had a gold sparkle-top Jay Turser hollowbody where I used regular red dice for the controls and smaller red dice for the switches, of which it had a total of 5. Pretty simple actually: bought the dice off Ebay, drilled a hole for the shaft with the drill press, then drilled & tapped a hole in the side for set screws that I bought at Ace Hardware. On the right guitar they can be stunning, somehow they don't look right to me on your Tele.......knurled chrome would be my choice.
I did those once except I sanded one corner flat and drilled there. Kinda gave them a look as if they were Tumblin' Dice.
I'm a Gretsch guy, but they've never been my thing.
I like my dice fuzzy. They have warmer tone!
Looks Cool - but how does a volume swell work w/ those knobs?
Peace - Deeve
I did that to a cigar box guitar, but not sure I would like it on a traditional instrument. The looks is okay, but the function would be a little inferior in feel with sharp edges. If you are the kind of player that just runs the controls full out all the time, it would be a thumbs up from me. Otherwise, it would not be my choice.
I have an Epiphone Flamekat that came with dice knobs and a Bigsby. It's a good looking guitar, and it plays and sounds good too, but the square dice knobs aren't as comfortable as regular round knobs.
If you think about it, it's kind of like the guitar equivalent of wearing high heels...
It would be cool if you could have knobs that were square dice mounted inside of rounded clear urethane or glass. That way they would look square but still be round to the touch...
I like dice knobs but not on a 'normal' Tele. On a Gretsch, fine!
Yeah they look a little bit too fancy for a tele. If i was Brian setzer, i d have them, but as i m not i ll stick to my washhing machine knobs.
For volume swells, you use Mexican Jumping Beans.
It does it by itself.
On the right guitar I think they can look cool, but I wouldn't want them on a Tele because I use the controls for swells and that would bother me. I probably wouldn't be bothered by them on any other guitar if they looked good.
I have been thinking of making a set of those for my Epi Casino. It is cherry red. I think those red ones (white dots) would look pretty cool.
I'm not sure I dig them on that Tele though ?
I don't know why, sorry.
Very cool on the right guitar.
I love the guitar except for the dice knobs.
I think white die with red inlays would look better on your red Epi.
