I will be building a Pinecaster using materials from a bar in my hometown.

I grew up in the beautiful Meridian, MS. In the historic downtown area, there is a restaurant/bar (Weidmann's) where my cousin's band would play every weekend. In my later high school years, I would sit in most of those weekends. It is a sentimental place to me for two reasons: my love for music grew greatly within its walls and my wife and I had our rehearsal dinner there.

Because of his relationship with one of the owners, my cousin was able to get his hands on a few pieces of pine (heart pine maybe?) that was salvaged from a renovation.

    I got a couple of pieces from him :D. Dimensions on the two pieces I have are 13" x 5' x 1-5/8".

What a coincidence, I'm using material from a bar in my town too.

Oh, you meant IN the guitar. Never mind

You're going to be setting the bar a bit high there!

That wood has so much mojo you could sell the chips as relics so other guitars could have a little bit of that mojo in them.

    Good luck and be safe.

That is a beautiful part of the country. Haven't been over your way in a long time, but I loved how the trees canopied over the roads on so many of the highways, lush, green areas for miles.

Anyway, a Tele made from Mississippi bar boards has gotta be very special, and you picked well for a first build. Best of luch!

EDIT: Best of LucK, too.

    Good luck with your build.

As the challenge moderator I don't post very many comments during the challenge but I wanted to make sure I welcomed all the first time builders. You'll have a lot of fun with it.

I'll bet it's some of that old, close-grain pine, too.
    Good luck,
    Steve

Might decide later to do my own neck and pick guard as well, but let's stick to just the body for now.

I was going to keep it simple and classic on this build, but I got to brain storming this afternoon and think I might do something like this instead :D. Here's the product of my sub-par Photoshop skills.

I plan on using the control layout of a Jazzmaster, and I might use a Jazzmaster neck pickup.

I think I'll call it the Pinemaster.

Got a little bit of work done yesterday and today.

Sanded down the board to get thin a little smoother.

Found the neck I will be using. Old Bullet neck from the 80's. I will be re-radiusing the board to be 12" and re-fretting it.
