Exotic laminated woods and brass! That sounds great! Let's see #1 please. :) The Alembic factory is here in Santa Rosa. It's in the blood here, sorry.

This is number one made in 6 weeks at the Fox school, School of the Guitar Research and Design Center in Vermont circa Summer, 1980.

000 sized of my own design. Spruce top ebony fretboard, Paduak back and sides, EI Rosewood binding, Ebonized maple and maple purfling, and ebony bridge. Lacquer finish.

Oddly enough, I just played this last Thursday. It hasn't been out of the case in about 10 years. Everybody else in class made a Rosewood D style guitar. I opted to be different. I figured why make a guitar that you can buy... I pretty much still feel that way.

I had also started and got about halfway through, a mahogany Strat shaped guitar with two humbuckers... kind of before that style got popularized by Jackson Charvel. You could make another instrument on your own time if you wanted.

I'm not a fan of the video portion of this challenge...just thought I'd say that.... and my results shall reflect that. I'm not comfortable in front of cameras, have no video making expertise, and don't want any......

I just got finished making my second ever horrible video vignettes.... now to assemble the usable parts to satisfy that requirement.

Young folk are obviously born with video DNA, but some of the older folks who had a Brownie camera...not so much...:)

Isn't that printed on a large placard above the front desk in the Monterey Guitar Division? ;)

Nice guitar there. You know, that smaller bodied stuff is getting more and more popular nowadays. You were just way ahead of your time :D.

    Sweet guitar.

Only in the last few years have I bought guitars that aren't black. My fav is Oly white.
Though, It could have been whiter.

I'm really happy I did white. I saw a new 2014 car in a commercial that was a pretty cool green. I may have to investigate that color.

Thanks... I do OK...I'm not gifted like some around here... man there is a load of talent in this place.

Well guess it's time.......it only took about 7 hours to upload this academy award winner. Time to move on to something else.

 Love it, Marty! I think the CCR licks were a perfect fit to showcase the Monterey II. Excellent job on bringing another vision to life ;).
