    Anticipation...

    Gluing the top on:

Next stop: carving the top! (Which really is one of my favorite parts)

Woah! That's an interesting way of applying pressure! It actually scares me. I have no doubt whatsoever that if I used that method, I would get smacked in the face by more than one of those rods.

I may be late for the party, but I really like this build! I also like the inlaid fingerboard & also your choice of body wood - I can't wait to hear this one.

I'm loving that body shape, Chris.

    Awesome, Rob!
    Looking forward to hearing them.

Have you tinkered with the gold foil stuff at all? They seem to be having a bit of a resurgence. David Torn has posted some glorious soundclips over on TGP of his Ronin with foilbuckers. (but pretty much anything he plays sounds glorious...)

I will be playing with some DeArmond gold and silver foil single coils soon. It's a shame DeArmond went under. The pups are built very well and have some serious tone.

If you search for "go-bar deck" you'll find some great examples of legitimate luthierie appllications. I need to come up with some better rods though... I snapped about three of them doing this. It would have been hilarious to watch, but was a bit stressful in the moment...

That would been especially stressful but, sadly, more hilarious... (not if it happened to someone else, though...)

    Thanks, Tom!

Thanks, Roger! When I found out it had to have a traditional tele headstock, I made a mash-up of my LP-inspired and Gretsch doublecut-inspired outlines. Then I borrowed an upper-horn line from a tele template (just for good measure...)

The secret to a happy marriage....

She encourages me in doing this:

And I do my best to make sure she doesn't see this:

Communication is also really important, so I practice by writing myself notes and trying to both remember and respond to them. Kind of a 'proof of concept' deal...

    Cheers!

Does this look funny to you?

I'm not sure if my jigsaw is supposed to cut like this...
    But I like it!

I think it helps the epoxy putty bond better where it should...
The astute will notice that I ran out of putty mid-job and also that I coated the neck with paste wax before subjecting it to this torture...

Then I routed the pickup plane:

I just love the looks of any gold foil type pickups, especially the Teisco ones. But can't find any budget examples for me to buy....

I wonder how easy it would be to simply make similar covers, and use whatever pickups you liked underneath?
