HI all, so my first build was so much fun that I am going at it again.

Another cedar bodied tele. with a strat neck and my metal plates. I had a set of EMG active pickups lying around, so this one will be loud!.

For the finish I plan on doing a big metal flake blue that will compliment the rusted steel.

Now got to choose the neck...

    rosewood reverse headstock:

    Maple regular headstock

More pics to come with the progress :)

    Enjoy

OK, that's cool and all. But this is Rusty.

Lol. Your camera makes those necks look way warped out of shape! :D

On a serious note - looks like a cool build. I think the rosewood board looks better atm, but I’m not a personal fan of reverse headstocks. But things may look different when the paint finish is on the body??

Looks better with the maple regular neck imo. I like the rusty pickguard but If the pickguard isn't sealed I would consider sealing it or getting a tetanus booster shot before playing it.

It's the fish eye on the camera ;)

lol... no worries, the plates will receive a few coats of clear...and tetanus shot are mandatory as soon as you walk into my shop...metal in all sort of shape everywhere. :)

Love my EMG Active T set. Only the volume is active in this instance, making it my #1 choice for jam night since one never knows what amp will be supplied by the host band.

Here's a little update on Rusty....the burncaster!. Well the blue sparkle paint will have to wait for the next built. Looks like getting big metal flakes is harder than I thought. I ordered them online, but with 2 weeks wait....I'm not that patient. So I opted for a flat grey design; The frustrations.. lol or I am a bit too perfectionist, never got the finish I wanted, so after sanding it down for the second time a friend saw the guitar and immediately wanted it.

I still wasn't totally satisfied with the look, so I decided to put a torch to it and burn the exposed wood.

Now I like it!!! ready for final sanding and buffing ;)

She will be going to a new home, to a good friend of mine. She will get played a LOT!!! ;)

I discovered a new passion for building and finishing guitars... (I am attacking necks when I'm done with this current batch) I am a bit intimidated by jumping into neck building. I guess we will see and enjoy the learning curve. So here are 3 more in the making, all made of knotty pine. A milky translucent white, Azur blue tinted and a totally charred wood. This time I experienced with lacquer instead of polyurethane and I am pleased with the result and how easy it is to work with. Enjoy and I will post better pictures .

All of them lined up almost ready for final assembly

Charredcaster There must be 50-60 coats of laquer on there to fill it all in... I lost count at one point. lol

    Enjoy!
