    Very nice terbo!
You got the red w black goin on!

Installed the Wilkinson tuners on mine which improved the 51s ability to stay in tune!

Man, has it been a long time since I've posted! I still lurk from time to time. Need some advice from "The Club." I'd like to upgrade my bridge. I have the 51 w/string through body, and I'd like to upgrade the bridge and saddles. I know a lot of you probably went GFS, but I'm interested in other direct replacements. Thanks, and here's a shot of my "51 Jr." That's a Tonerider P90 in the bridge.

I did not mod mine, kept it stock. I'm sure others will be more help.
Just had to comment on how good your '51 looks, though!

Thanks! When I played mostly Teles, I was a big Esquire fan. That turned into being a huge Les Paul Jr fan, and as you can see by my avatar, I love P90s. This guitar was a back up for the longest time. I needed an inexpensive guitar for back up at shows. Once I was able to spend a little extra money on myself for gear, my 51Jr got put away for a few years. My band is playing more songs that require open G tunings, and this guitar is perfect for that. It still looks and sounds great, and the only modifications are the bridge pup, I pulled the neck, knobs, and I wired it for volume & tone like a LPjr.

Are you aware of the Bubba Mod, replacing the block saddles with Tele barrel saddles? Three holes in the stock bridge plate, and a set of standard or compensated saddles. About a $12 mod.

To me, a mod must be an improvement.

The Bubba Mod is definitely an improvement over the top load bridge and saddles of the early 51 series. I don't have a string-through, perhaps they don't have the same issues.

I managed to scoop up a string through 51 on ebay that has a Fender hipshot style bridge. Real nice block saddles. Seems to the best way to keep things 'stock' looking. Maybe it was from a Fender 51.

How did you cover the humbucker hole with that bridge? I've seen other projects and it doesn't covers the sides

    Hello!
I've noticed a lot of folks have replaced the control plates on their Squire '51s. Does anyone still have a stock control plate floating around?
I'm trying to put my '51 back together but I'm missing the control plate.
I'm also looking for a stock pick guard in any color, but it isn't as crucial.

If anyone has what I'm looking for I would love to buy it from you. I haven't been able to play this guitar since I took it apart to make a tele in high school.
    I miss it dearly.

    Thank you<3

It took me a while, but I made it back. I have had four (now five) different Squier 51 and even a Fender Pawn Shop 51. I initially bought a black one and turned it into a giraffe - gave it away. I bought a beat up black one and put a filtertron pickup in the bridge no pickguard no neck pickup. I loved that thing, but gave it away. All of these give-aways are to youngsters. I traded for a Fender Pawn Shop 51, but ended up trading that for something else down the line. I bought a burst and turn that into a flower - I sold the neck and kept the body, attempted to refinish it a couple of week-ends ago. The body is in my garage waiting on me and a neck to make it whole. In the meantime I found this 2014 red one on Reverb.com. It's 7lbs 3oz. I'm finally back!
