One of the most moving tributes I've seen on the internet was Larry Carlton paying tribute to a recently-deceased Walter Becker. He did a Dan tune, but it was 'Josie' - a real Walter tune (rather than, say, 'Kid Charlemagne') and he didn't take a solo, preferring to leave that to another instrument and thus moving the spotlight off of himself and over to where it should be.

Cut that man and he would bleed class.
